Dance Today and Everyday!
Holistic health covers many different areas of our well-being, such as physical, emotional, and spiritual. Dancing covers all of those.
First, dancing helps our physical and emotional well-being. We start moving, with dancing moving many areas of the body. Any exercise is beneficial to our body. If you do a free dance, moving your body, swinging your arms and moving your legs, all those areas and areas in-between is getting exercise.
Dancing with some type of music adds an auditory component. Upbeat music improves mood.
This is great exercise, which pumps our heart. Moving around also improves our mood. An improved mood lowers stress, depression and anxiety. Similar to any other exercise, our energy increases. Who doesn’t like more energy?
Dancing improves balance and posture! After many years of sitting at a computer, I’m doing everything I can to get a better posture back.
Dance can be very spiritual. Slower movements can be meditative. Open your arms and think about opening yourself to guidance. Pushing arms out, or swinging them from side to side will push negative emotions away. Pulling your arms in can welcome new ideas and emotions. Happiness can flow in here.

Movement improves our flexibility. When is the last time you checked to see how flexible you are? How far can you reach?
Are you trying to lose weight! Dancing will help. Remember, there is no one thing that will help you to lose weight. Watch what you are eating, and make sure to exercise. Dancing is great exercise, so do it regularly.
A good dance routine would be to combine slower and faster dance to get the optimum workout. Start slow, go to a faster dance, then slow to cool down again.
This also combines the happiness of the dance with a meditative portion at the beginning and end. I can set a focus at the beginning to change how I’m feeling about something. That way the faster part of the dance can be used to push away any negative emotions. Then, the last part of the dance, which is slower again, can be used to receive positive thoughts.
